One of the most successful wide-ranging drug in the field of antibiotics is Levofloxacin or Levaquin as it is commonly known. Levofloxacin is the generic name of the antibiotic. Levaquin has enjoyed fame from the day it was introduced by the Ortho-McNeil pharmaceuticals in the year 1996. Levaquin comes from the family of antibiotic known as fluoroquinolones or quinolone.
This magnificent drug helps the body to get over infections caused by bacteria but as all the antibiotics, it does not pose a threat to viruses. It is being used to cure a wide range of infections affecting the sinus,prostrate,kidney etc. It is also being used extensively to treat pneumonia, bronchitis and anthrax. When a patient by chance comes across chemical anthrax and inhales it accidently then he can be immediately administered Levaquin to control the infection.

In serious cases, the tendon gets affected and gets ruptured. This damage is permanent and cannot be cured completely even after a corrective surgery. The affected part will never again function has it used to even after discontinuing the medication. Mostly the Achilles tendon ( which connects the muscles in the lower leg and the heel of the foot) is affected. The symptoms of a tendon rupture are inflammation and unbearable pain.
