Levaquin is often incorrectly written as Levequin has the pronunciation is almost similar. The correct spelling however is Levaquin .This drug has been used widely as an antibiotic for infections caused by pathogens. Coming from the family of the Quinolones antibiotics it is also known as Levofloxacin, which happens to be the generic name of the drug.

One of the striking features apart from the fact that it is used for treating all kind of infections caused by bacteria is that it is also equally popular for curing bronchitis and pneumonia. The usage of the antibiotic has however come down for the past few years. The reason behind is the side effects they cause in patients. It has become such a big problem that very few pharmacists recommend Levequin these days.

Levequin has become a popular topic in the medical field .The medical field is divided on their opinion about the subject has some feel that Levequin can be used in cases where the risk factors are overshadowed by the benefit they offer while others oppose it strongly. It has been found that in some cases the after effects encountered by the patients are worse than their initial condition for which they opted this medication.

Some of the side effects of the drug to name some are drowsiness, headache, lightheadedness
nausea ,nervousness and constipation. In cases that are, more serious tendon’s have been affected and is usually a permanent damage. Though a corrective surgery helps in improving their condition it is quite unfortunate that they their affected parts will never function as it used to.

As the awareness grew, the victims of the side effects decided to seek justice and filed case against the manufacturer of the drug Ortho-McNeil Pharmaceuticals that is part of the Johnson and Johnson Company. More than 60 percent of the case filed by the victims suffered from tendon rupture.
