Quinolone family of antibiotic is used extensively for curing bacterial infections. Over the years many derivatives of the group have been discovered and each of these generations were modified to be better than the previous generation. Levaquin is the third generation derivative of the antibiotic therefore it has the potential to resist a number of bacterial infections. The generic name of the Levaquin drug is known as Levofloxacin.

Levaquin also causes adverse reactions in human body. Following are the normally reported side effects:
Nausea
Headaches
Diarrhea
Insomnia
Dizziness
Constipation
One must stay away from alcohol while under the medication has it interferes with the working of the antibiotic and reduced its effect in the body. It also worsens the above listed symptoms which is the result of the Levaquin medication. Usually when alcohol is consumed with antibiotics, it results in disastrous effects and sometimes can become fatal as well.

The drug is extremely dangerous and can pass to the baby from the mother through placenta in the womb and also during breast feeding. This drug has the potential to affect the growth of the infant and can sometimes even become fatal. Therefore its necessary that pregnant women avoid this drug at all cost and must inform your doctor of your condition if he prescribes you the drug.

Levaquin antibiotic also causes tendon injuries in biceps, arms, shoulder and legs but usually for some unknown reason most of the patients are victim of the Achilles tendon injury. Achilles tendon is found at the lower part of the leg, it connects the lower part of the leg to the heel of the feet. Patients experience unbearable pain and inflammation in that area while under the medication.

The antibiotic interacts with number of medications hence patients must avoid taking other medications along with the Levaquin drug. These medications must not be consumed within two hours of intake of the drug.

Hi there: Just want to share I think this is worst drug I have ever taken and will NEVER take again. I experienced headaches, dizziness, continuous muscle spasms in calves, extreme weakness and fatigue even three weeks after finishing medication and at this point am hopeful that one day I will recover. I have been overdosing on B complex which has helped headache and dizziness. Looking forward to being normal again, please don’t ever take this awful, awful medication,
